9 THINGS I LEARNED FROM UFC 139, RESULTS, AND REACTIONS

What can I say about UFC 139 that hasn't already been said.  I'm sure you've already read all there is to read about the event and have formed your opinions concerning what happened.   If you were able to watch this already legendary card, then you know what I mean when I say that there's only one word that can be used to describe it.  WOW!

It turns out that UFC 139 may go down as the best card of the year.  The main event between Mauricio Rua and Dan Henderson is already being considered one of the greatest fights in the history of the UFC, if not MMA.  Both men put on one of the gutsiest most entertaining performances of both their careers.  The bloody mess that resulted from the 5 round slug fest was, to say the least, incredible.  There was no shortage of amazing moments leading up to the main even either.  If you have not had a chance to watch the event yet, do yourself a favor and get caught up.  You won't regret it.

For the first time since I began doing pre-fight breakdowns and predictions I put up a losing record.  In case you've been following, I went 2 for 7 on the night.  Don't worry though, I plan to come back strong at UFC 140 because if nothing else, being that wrong is an incredibly humbling experience.

9 THINGS I LEARNED FROM UFC 139

1.  The UFC consistently puts great matchups on the undercard.  Apparently, there is no shortage of talent in any division in the UFC.

2.  If Chris Weidman continues to progress at the pace he's currently exhibiting, he may very well be challenging for a title sooner rather than later.

3.  Team Alpha Male is one of the best training camps in MMA.  Period.

4.  Ryan Bader is back!  He looked fired up and ready to make another run at the Lightheavyweight division.

5.  Michael McDonald is the real deal.  He did exactly what he was supposed to do when faced with an opponent with an inferior skill level.

6.  Stephan Bonnar is the ultimate gatekeeper.  He'll probably never win a title, but neither will anyone who can't beat him.

7.  Urijah Faber looked damn good in his domination of Brian Bowles.  Damn good.

8.  Cung Le did not live up to the hype.  Oh, and "The Axe Murderer" is back!!

9.  Mauricio Rua and Dan Henderson are currently ranked numbers 1 and 2 on the list of toughest men in the world.  I don't know who's 1 and who's 2, but frankly it doesn't really matter.
