THE AFTERMATH OF UFC 139

If you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor....do us all a favor.....and watch it.  For the love of God watch it.  Already thought by most to be the fight of the year, and gaining steam in its consideration as the greatest MMA fight of all time, the main event from UFC 139 can only be described in one word.  Spectacular!  There are very few fights that produce the kind of dramatics that were on display when Shogun and Hendo went toe to toe at the center of the Octagon.  The heart and tenacity demonstrated by both men was nothing short of inspiring.

MAYHEM MILLER: "HENDERSON TOOK HIS SOUL, I'M TAKING THE REST"

When was the last time seeing Jason "Mayhem" Miller on television was a bad thing?  The star of the uber-smash-hit Bully Beatdown is now preparing for his upcoming battle with fellow The Ultimate Fighter coach Michael Bisping.  As if he wasn't popular enough, Miller has managed to gain even more fans with his stint as a TUF coach showing that he's not just the "whacky-zainy" character he plays on television.  His abilities as a coach and ever developing skills as a Mixed Martial Artist make Miller a personality unlike any other in the sport.

THE ROWDY-BAR

It's only fitting to have a submission named after you if you've finished every single fight in your career with it.  Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey is 4 x 0 in her professional MMA career with all 4 wins coming via Armbar in the first round. She has also finished all three of her amateur bouts with the same finishing move.  The Judo Olympian and winner of this weeks KneeBar Reactions Submission of the week is fast climbing the ranks in women's MMA, and is already being considered the next big thing.  With her impressive skills and marketable personality, there's no doubt that Ronda Rousey is destined to do big things for the sport.

UFC 140 TRAILER

As the sun sets on the aftermath of UFC 139, all eyes now turn to UFC 140.  On December 10th, the Lightheavyweight championship will once gain be on the line as Jon "Bones" Jones defends his belt against former Lightheavyweight champ and real life Karate Kid, Lyoto Machida.  Will Jon Jones continue his unprecedented run as the youngest champion in UFC history, or will Machida finally put an end to his reign?  Only one way to find out!

SUBMISSION OF THE WEEK

One more week, multiple submission finishes, and still no KneeBar!  What does a guy have to do to get a KneeBar finish around here?  Between all the major events that occurred this week, there were some great submission finishes.

BELLATOR 58 FIGHT VIDEOS

UFC 139 was not the only major MMA event broadcast on November 19th.  Bellator 58 went live on MTV 2 and there was no shortage of exciting moments.  Eddie Alvarez put his lightweight title on the line in a main event that turned out to be as exciting a fight as there is in MMA.  Also on the card was a non-title fight between Hector Lombard and Trevor Prangley.  What a weekend for MMA this turned out to be.

9 THINGS I LEARNED FROM UFC 139, RESULTS, AND REACTIONS

What can I say about UFC 139 that hasn't already been said.  I'm sure you've already read all there is to read about the event and have formed your opinions concerning what happened.   If you were able to watch this already legendary card, then you know what I mean when I say that there's only one word that can be used to describe it.  WOW!

QUICK RESULTS FOR UFC 139

RESULTS FOR UFC 139  **SPOILER ALERT**

BETTING ODDS, BREAKDOWNS, AND PREDICTIONS FOR UFC 139

Why am I getting the impression that this fight card is being overlooked?  Is it because there's no title on the line?  Is it because most are already looking forward to UFC 140 and UFC 141?  I'll concede that the next two events are something to look forward to, but to say that UFC 139 is in some way inferior is a horrendous.  The amount of firepower contained by all the competitors who will be fighting Saturday night is astonishing.  There's no telling what might happen on November 19th.

UFC 139: SIX CHAMPIONS, ONE NIGHT (2)

Next up on our list of former champions is none other than "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva. Of all the champions fighting at UFC 139, Silva is probably the most beloved of them all among fans. The man who once dominated the Pride FC Middleweight (modern lightheavyweight) division for the better part of five years will be facing the former StrikeForce Middleweight Champion, Cung Le. While this matchup is not the most intriguing of the bouts on this card, there's still plenty of reason to tune in and watch these two go at it.

UFC 139 PREDICTIONS CONTEST

The break is over!

The UFC on Fox has come and gone so lets get back to the nitty gritty.  It was nice to just enjoy being a fan again for a week and not have to concentrate on blogging so much.  But since we do this for the love of the sport, its time to get back to it and bring you what you want.  The last two prediction contests have been a raging success....so....as promised, I'll be continuing to hold contests for every major event up until the end of the year.  The race for the best overall score is a close one, so keep on making your picks because the grand prize will be announced the week before UFC 141.

TUF 14: Episode 9

Aired 11/16/2011.

CHAEL SONNEN TAKES ON A MOUTH AS BIG AS HIS

What happens when Chael Sonnen meets someone with a mouth as big as his?  I'm not gonna ruin it for you.  Just watch the video and you'll see.

UFC 139: SIX CHAMPIONS, ONE NIGHT (1)

I can't remember the last time a UFC event was stacked with so many former champions.  On Saturday night, six former champs will go head to head and many of the night's fights will have title implications.  Faber vs. Bowles may very well determine who gets the next shot at the UFC Bantamweight strap.  Both men are former WEC champs and a win for either will put them one step closer to getting back the gold.  Shogun vs. Hendo has very similar implications as a win for either will propel them right in to the epicenter of the Lightweight title picture.  Throw in the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion (Cung Le) vs. the Axe Murderer himself (Wanderlei Silva) and what you have is a stellar, action packed card.

SHANE CARWIN ON INSIDE MMA

If nothing else, this past weekend shook up the UFC Heavyweight division like few fights have ever done so in the past. With Junior Dos Santos winning the title, Big Nog vs. Frank Mir next month, and Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem headlining UFC 141, the heavyweight division is set to produce some of the most exciting matchups of 2012. Add in the fact that the UFC will most likely absorb the Strikeforce heavyweight division, and what you have is a sure fire recipe for success. And oh yeah, there's still the former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion who will be coming back from injury to consider.

DANIEL CORMIER DISCUSSES CAIN'S PERFORMANCE ON FOX

There will be no shortage of criticism directed towards Cain Velasquez in the coming weeks for his less than stellar performance against Junior Dos Santos on November 12th.  The critics will offer their opinions as to why he lost and what he needs to do to get back the title.  The fact of the matter is that Cain Velasquez is one of the world's best heavyweight fighters, but unfortunately the fight did not go his way.  The nature of MMA is such that anything can happen at any time.  Junior Dos Santos got there first and emerged the better man when the two fought on FOX.

THE GRACIE BREAKDOWN: UFC ON FOX

The dust has finally settled.  The UFC's debut on Fox has come and gone and there was no shortage of action for the entirety of the card.  For those of you that didn't watch all the fights on Facebook prior to the main event, boy did you miss some great match ups.  If nothing else, do yourself a favor and watch Clay Guida vs. Benson Henderson.  It's not the fight of the year, but it was definitely the most entertaining bout of the night.  It also crowned Benson Henderson as the number one contender to the lightweight championship belt.  Finally, we'll get to see Frankie Edgar fight someone other than B.J. Penn or Gray Maynard.

PROS PICK CAIN VELASQUEZ VS. JDS

It's almost time!  The UFC debut on Fox is less then five days away and the excitement level is palpable.  Cain Velasquez vs. JDS is the most historic Heavyweight Championship match in the history of the sport.  MMA has been on network television before, but it has never been broadcast on this level. The fastest growing sport in the world will now reach hundred of millions of homes for absolutely free.  Leave it to Dana White to recognize how important this moment is and give the world what could turn out to be the best fight of the year.

B.J. PENN TALKS GSP VS. NICK DIAZ AND RETIREMENT

B.J Penn vs. Nick Diaz turned out to be one of the best fights of the year.  In his post fight interview, B.J. hinted at a possible retirement, stating "I don't want to go home looking like this anymore".  A legend of Mixed Martial Arts, B.J. Penn is still considered by many to be the greatest Lightweight fighter to ever walk the face of the Earth.  As the first American to ever win the BJJ Mundials at the Blackbelt level, he is also thought to be the only person in history to ever receive a BJJ Blackbelt in less than 4 years (3 1/2 to be exact).  Regardless of whether he decides to retire or not, his contribution to the sport of MMA is immeasurable and his accomplishments are numerous.

FIGHTS FROM PRO ELITE 2

UFC 138 was not the only MMA event that took place last night.  HDNet aired all the action from Pro Elite live.  Pro Elite 2: Big Guns featured the second professional fight of Reagan Penn (B.J.'s little brother) as well as heavyweight matchups that included former UFC Heavyweight Champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski.  Check out all the action.

KNEEBAR REACTIONS SUBMISSION OF THE WEEK

So many submissions so little time!

Yet another week where there were multiple submissions to choose from for the KneeBar Reactions Submission of the week.  Four of the five fights on the main card for UFC 138 ended in a submission and they were all impressive in their own right.  But my personal favorite was delivered by the 100th BJJ blackbelt out of the  Nova Uniao camp.  Nova Uniao has produced some of the nastiest BJJ blackbelts ever and Renan Barao is the newest on a list that includes Vitor Ribeiro, Robson Moura, and B.J. Penn.

UFC 138 CONTEST WINNER AND RESULTS

What a great card UFC 138 turned out to be.  For a week, all I've heard about is how much this card was going to suck.  Well, don't you all feel stupid.  There was not a dull fight on the main card and the Main Event turned out to as entertaining as I had anticipated, albeit with a less than favorable ending.  Throw in the slug fest that was the Co-main event and the fact that not one fight on the main card went to a decision, then what you have is an A+ event.  UFC 138 was a stellar card and was well worth its $0 price tag.

QUICK RESULTS FOR UFC 138

What a great card!  Unlike most UFC events, not one fight in the main card went to a Decision.  There was absolutely no leaving it in the judges hands.  If you were reluctant to sit and watch this one, I suggest you change your mind.  Dana White is going to have a hard time picking his bonus winners tonight.

UFC 138 will show on tape delay in the U.S. at 8:00 pm EST.  The actual live show begins at 1:40 pm.  If you want to wait to find out who wins, I suggest you don't click the "Read More" link below.

(**SPOILERS**)

How nice of Dana White and all the brass over at the UFC to not only give us one, but two weeks of absolutey free MMA action. Its starts Saturday, November 5 with the historic UFC 138 and ends Saturday, November 12 with what may turn out to be the single most significant event in the history of MMA.

UFC 138 PREDICTION CONTEST

It's that time again.

The first ever KneeBar Reactions prediction contest was a raging success, so just as I promised, I'll be hosting a new contest for as many major MMA events as possible from here on out with the exception of the UFC on Fox.  I won't be hosting a contest for the particular event for various reasons, but mostly, its because I want to be able to enjoy the show like a true fan without having to worry about my blogging duties.

NICK THE FACE PROMO FOR JONES VS. MACHIDA

Nick the Face does it again!  The unofficial UFC (and MMA) promo machine just can't stop making amazing promotional videos for upcoming UFC fights.  It's entirely possible that he does just as much to promote events as the UFC marketing machine.  Maybe it's time Dana White and the Ferttita's start to cut him some checks.  Either way, here comes another great Nick the Face promo video.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

TUF 14: Episode 7

Aired 11/2/2011

UFC 138: MARK MUNOZ VS. CHRIS LEBEN

On Saturday, November 5th, Chris Leben will take on Mark Munoz as the main event of UFC 138.  Both these main event competitors are extremely skilled fighters and always bring it in the cage.  UFC 138 is a historic event because it will be the first time that a main event will feature a 5 round non-title fight.

RICKY LUNDELL TEACHES "THE SAFARI"

Have you ever wondered how fighters like Joe Lauzon and Frank Mir take their ground skills to the next level?

Ricky Lundell is considered to be one of the most technical BJJ blackbelts out there and he is constantly helping the submission game of elite fighters evolve.  Ricky is an innovator and isn't afraid to push boundaries.  It's rumored that his Jiu-Jitsu is so good that he can submit you with his eyes.  Now that's skill.

DONALD CERRONE..."I'LL FIGHT ANYONE, ANYTIME"

What a year it's been for Donald Cerrone.  Not only has he fought four times this year, which is almost unheard of in Mixed Martial Arts, he's won all four of those fights in devastating fashion.  "The Cowboy" is climbing the ranks of the Lightweight division and is on his way to becoming a legitimate contender for the UFC 155 lbs title.  As if four wins and the triple crown of fight night bonuses wasn't enough for one year, Cerrone has signed a bout agreement to fight Nate Diaz at UFC 141 on December 30th where he and Diaz will serve as the Co-Main Event.

UFC UNDISPUTED 3: PETTIS VS. GUILLARD

It's about that time again.  The newest version of the UFC Undisputed video game series is close to being released.  The rosters are officially in and the newest version will feature all of your favorite fighters, including the newly added Featherweight and Bantamweight divisions.  There are still a few key fighters missing, but for the most part, all of the big names are in there.
