Next up on our list of former champions is none other than "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva. Of all the champions fighting at UFC 139, Silva is probably the most beloved of them all among fans. The man who once dominated the Pride FC Middleweight (modern lightheavyweight) division for the better part of five years will be facing the former StrikeForce Middleweight Champion, Cung Le. While this matchup is not the most intriguing of the bouts on this card, there's still plenty of reason to tune in and watch these two go at it.
This fight will answer a lot of questions about both fighters and where they are in their careers. Wanderlei has been on a rapid decline in recent years, but the drop to Middleweight has somewhat revived his career. Does Wanderlei still have what it takes to be a top tier contender in the UFC?
Cung Le was a well deserving Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. There's no arguing that. The fact still remains that he has never fought elite middleweights like the kind in the UFC's Middleweight division. Is Cung Le the real deal, or was his rise to greatness in Strikeforce manufactured?
